Tom Farruggia, President and owner of Illinois Fire & Safety Company, is a national advocate of fire protection and prevention. He is recognized nationally for his expertise and is active in setting the standards used throughout the country. Tom speaks throughout the country teaching others in his industry how to understand the standards and how to deliver the highest levels of quality. Even fire and insurance inspectors turn to his company for training.

1. October 1, 2006
   Appointed by State Fire Marshal David Foreman to serve as advisor to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal as a member of the seven-member Illinois Fire Equipment Distributor and Employee Board. (Served as the Board's first Chairman from 1989-1991.)

   Conducted a workshop on kitchen hood fire suppression systems by the Illinois Fire Inspectors’ Association.
2. Winter/Spring of 2006
   Spoke at the 3 regional conferences of the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors on Maintenance and Testing of Fire Hose.
3. 2000 to present
   Appointed by the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors to serve as the state representative for fire equipment distributors located in Illinois.
4. 2000 to 2001
   Was one of 10 people appointed to represent the Illinois business community as a member of the Republican Majority Business Council by Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

   Elected President of the Addison Association of Industry and Commerce.

   Appointed to the National Fire Protection Association's Technical Committee on Fire Hose to write and update the national standards for the care, use, and placement of fire hose throughout the United States.

   Served on Board of Directors of the Professional Fire Protection Alliance, a statewide umbrella group comprised of various fire protection associations in Illinois.
10. 1990 to 1993
    Served on Board of Directors as Vice President of the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (Nafed).
    
    Served as Chairman of Nafed's Federal Regulations Committee and it's Membership Committee.
    
    Invited speaker on Nafed's 1992 conference circuit.
    
    Contributed article published in Nafed's "Fire Watch" magazine in 1991.

    Appointed by Governor Thompson to serve as advisor to the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal as a member of the seven-member Illinois Fire Equipment Distributor and Employee Board. Served as the Board's first Chairman from 1989-1991.
