Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition
The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition was founded in1996 by three nonprofit organizations - the American Fire Sprinkler Association, NFPA, and the National Fire Sprinkler Association. The Coalition was formed to provide accurate information to the public about the life-saving value of installing automatic fire sprinkler protection in homes, particularly new construction of one- and two-family dwellings. In addition, the Coalition mission strives to improve the public's understanding of automatic fire sprinkler technology for homes.
Working in conjunction with its members, partners, and fire service organizations, the Coalition endeavors to increase the awareness of home fire sprinklers and their availability in homes. Although the technology has been used commercially for more than a century, it is only recently that fire sprinklers have been extended to protect single-family dwellings. Considering that the percentage of fire deaths that occur in the home, now 83%, is on the rise even though fire deaths are falling, home fire sprinklers have the potential to save thousands of lives each year. Promotion is taking place nationally as well as in Canada.
